HOW TO PREPARE YOURSELF FOR YOUR PHOTO SHOOT
Getting yourself ready for your photo shoot is just as important as preparing your horse or dog. You might feel a bit anxious if you've never had a photo shoot before, so I've put a few tips below to help put your mind at ease.
You're allowed 3 outfit changes with all my photo shoot packages... you'll receive a style guide in your welcome pack that's full of ideas, too.
Have a think if there's anything you'd like to wear around your horse/dog that you don't normally, or if you have a favourite item of clothing, or something sentimental that you'd like to be included, these are good places to start.
Most people go for a casual, smart casual & a smart outfit choice. It's really up to you what you want to wear, but make sure you feel yourself, and you're warm/cool enough for the weather on the day. If you're struggling, just bring lots of things to your photo shoot and we can decide together.
So many people worry about having their photo taken, trust me, I am exactly the same as you. The thought of someone pointing a camera at me for ages makes me cringe. BUT. This is not your supermodel type photo shoot. It's nothing like the paparazzi on the red carpet, I promise.
In fact, you probably won't even notice I've got my camera. I usually spend the whole time chatting to you about something or other, and we already have common ground in horses and dogs, so we will have plenty to talk about.
I asked one of my previous clients what they would say to someone that wanted a photo shoot, but they were worried about having their photo taken, and this is what she said...
"There is ABSOLUTELY nothing for anyone to worry about when having a photoshoot with you Imogen.
You are super friendly, bubbly and full of smiles and laughter.
You treat each horse like your own, giving them undivided love and attention. I’ve never felt so happy and confident when doing a photo shoot with you.
You are unbelievable and so talented. I can’t wait for a third photo shoot. We love you!”
Of course, there are lots of ways we can get gorgeous photos if you really don't want to be in them, too!
EXPECTATIONS VS REALITY...
When you look at someone's photo shoot, you might think "wow, that horse is so well behaved, look how perfectly he's stood there with his ears forward! My horse will never do that!". And yes, it looks like that in the photo, but actually, the horse probably wasn't still, it took us a few attempts the get the ears forward, and it was probably far from perfect behind the scenes.
My job as a photographer is to be ready for the split second perfect moments, your job is to enjoy yourself and enjoy making memories with your horse and dog. There is absolutely no pressure for you horse or dog to behave perfectly and stand like robots... we all know that's not what they're like, especially when you need them to be well behaved!
The photos we're capturing are a celebration of their true personality, the more their character comes through, the better!
It's always best to give yourself plenty of time on the day of your photo shoot, get everything ready a day or two before, so on the day you only have to think about a few finishing touches.
If you have any more questions before booking, feel free to get in touch, I'm more than happy to help with any queries you might have.
Once you've booked you photo shoot, we have a pre-photo shoot consultation over the phone where I can answer any more questions you might have, too.
