Choosing what to wear for your equine photoshoot can feel a little puzzling.
If you're a lover of orange leaves, crunchy frosty mornings and getting cuddly with your horse then autumn may be the perfect season for your equine photoshoot. When choosing the perfect outfits for your equine photoshoot in autumn, I always consider the time of year, the location, your horses coat colour and your individual style.
Top Tip: Go with what makes you feel the most comfortable. What makes you feel like your best, most confident self? If you're not sure where to start, what would you wear for a nice lunch date with a best friend?
If you love dressing up, consider a tweed skirt and blazer duo, or maybe a knitted dress with tights. Take the opportunity and go all out for your autumn equine photoshoot.
If dresses/skirts aren't your vibe, and you're that classic horsey girl who spends her life in riding clothes, then maybe choosing jeans and a autumn coloured shirt would work best for you.

My clients tend to go for 3 different looks ranging from riding gear to smart casual and even long dresses if that's their thing. It really depends what they feel comfortable in. Choosing 3 outfits for your autumn equine photoshoot contributes to having a huge variety of images in your final gallery, and it gives you the chance to show all your favourite styles along the way.
I encourage my clients to bring some accessories, too, such as hats, belts & jewellery to make little tweaks to each of their outfits throughout the shoot. Simply adding a belt or hat to your outfit can create a totally different look.
Top Tip: One of my favourite bits of advice here is to bring along a piece of jewellery that holds particular sentimental value. I've had clients wear bracelets made of horsehair from their previous horses, or a necklace gifted from a late grandparent. Little things like this add a lovely touch.

Top tip: Avoid wearing anything luminous - by this I mean highlighter pen colours. It can be a little distracting. Same goes for items of clothing with big logos/slogans on. You wanted to images to be all about you and your horse, not what you're wearing.
When you book with me, you'll receive a lovely printed welcome pack in the post which includes a comprehensive style guide packed with loads of seasonal inspiration. This is full of gorgeous images that will surely make you want to jump up and start rooting through your wardrobe.
We will also have a chat about outfits during our design consultation call before your photoshoot. If you're still not 100% set on your photoshoot outfits, you're always welcome to put your favourite pieces of clothing into a suitcase and when I arrive on the day I can help you pick what looks best.
I've put some of my favourite outfits from previous equine photoshoots in the autumn below. If you've got anymore questions about autumn styling for your equine photoshoot, feel free to drop me an email imogen@lunarphoto.co.uk.
