Announcing: I’m the 2025 Country & Equestrian Photographer of the Year

I’m absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news… I’ve been named The Training Barn’s 2025 Country & Equestrian Photographer of the Year.

As a professional equine and country photographer, this is one of the most meaningful recognitions I could ever hope to receive. The standard of work in this competition is exceptionally high, so to have my images recognised across multiple categories is something I’m immensely proud of.

Real Moments, Real Clients, Real Connection

One thing I value deeply in my equine and country portrait work is authenticity. Every image I entered this year was captured on a real client shoot—no styled models, no composites, no heavy manipulation. Just honest storytelling and genuine connection between people and their horses.

I’ve always believed that strong equine photography is created in camera, through patience, timing, understanding horses, and being ready to capture the moments that matter. To have this approach acknowledged by the judges reinforces everything I strive for artistically.

The Story Behind the Winning Portrait

The overall winning image, Grace & Yoshi, was taken at the very end of an epic family shoot in late October. We were just wrapping up when we decided to have a quick cuddly moment at the end of the session. I remember looking at the back of the camera and thinking, there’s something really special here, but I didn’t grasp just how special it would become.

There’s an honesty and stillness in that frame that you can’t manufacture. It feels timeless, and I’m delighted that the judges felt the same way.

I feel incredibly lucky to spend my days photographing the relationships between people, children, families, and their horses. The support you give me year after year is something I never take for granted.
