I got to go back to Denstone Stud a few weeks ago and capture some more beautiful portraits of Jane and her lovely dressage mare, Evie. This time we included husband, Rob, and their dogs, Crumble & Lucy.
The weather was absolutely glorious, I think it's safe to say winter is finally behind us now.
Jane really wanted a portrait with all of them in, and then some of the dogs and Evie on their own as well.
We decided to start with the big one with everyone in. The dogs and horses don't mix often, so we chose a safe enclosed paddock and kept some distance between the two to begin with.
Evie can be quite sassy (I absolutely love her she is the queen!), so this felt like the safest way to start, then once I was happy everyone was comfortable and safe, we moved to a couple of different locations. We used a wooden gate, and then went and did a couple more in the school to create a variety of family portraits for them.

Evie was popped back in her stable for a break, and we went and played with the dogs in the garden for a 15 minutes. They loved playing fetch, so I got them running around, some gorgeous sitting images and then finished with portrait of Jane, Rob & the dogs.
The light was perfect in Evie's stable to create some beautiful black background portraits. There's something so special about a black horse on a black background... especially when they're as beautiful as Evie!
We finished this section with some cuddly shots with Jane in the stable doorway, I think Evie enjoyed this the most as she got lots of treats!

I wanted to make the most of the sun, and Denstone is such a beautiful location all year round. So to finish the session we took Evie down the track and got some more lovely portraits of her and Jane together. Something had caught her attention in the distance and she really worked the camera for me.
It's so special capturing the bond between Jane & Evie, it's clear to see how much Jane loves her and how special Evie is. I'm so lucky to have captured all aspects of their partnership now, from training at home, watching them out competing, and their bond away from the pressure of competition.
Wherever we are they always put a smile on my face.
