There’s something truly special about photographing a mother and daughter who share the same passion — especially when that passion is horses. Recently, I had the joy of spending time with Em and her daughter Emmie at their beautiful family home nestled in the Derbyshire countryside, surrounded by rolling hills and peaceful pastures.

Their horses, Bentley and Hector, were the stars of the show — each with their own character, quirks, and undeniable charm. And, of course, their most beautiful youngster Peanut made a special guest appearance for the family portrait, ensuring no one was left out of the memories we created together.

There’s a unique beauty in capturing generations together — especially when horses are such a core part of family life. For so many of us, our equestrian journey is something we share with our parents or children. It’s in the early mornings at the yard, the muddy boots, the proud smiles from the sidelines, and those quiet moments spent simply being together with the horses who mean everything to us.

These portraits celebrate that bond — not just the love for your horses, but the love between family. And when the images are captured at home, in the place where those everyday moments unfold, it makes them even more meaningful. Away from the pressure of competition or the need to perform, it’s simply about connection, laughter, and creating memories together.

Imogen is quite frankly a magician! I absolutely adore photos but not of myself! I had seen Imogen’s work and particularly the feelings she captures in her photos and just dared to dream that she may produce some pictures that I could just about bear!

Well how wrong was I? Picture after picture that I adored and made me cry like a baby! She has such an amazing talent for this. The photos she creates are not only authentically absolutely beautiful but they truly tell a story.

But that isn’t everything. The whole portrait session experience was genuinely a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I would actually put on par with my wedding. When else would you walk with your pony in heels? It consumed my thoughts for weeks. My family also thoroughly enjoyed it, especially my daughter (aged 8) — a real memory for the memory bank — and we have the gorgeous images to remember it by.
