The first week of November is actually so stunning when it comes to the autumn colours. In fact, if you really want cosy autumn vibes then this is the month that I would recommend.


Jaya really wanted to let Sam and dogs, Helga & Daisy, be stars of the show, and so we did just that.

We started the day with some gorgeous black background portraits of Sam in his stable, he was a really good boy here, and I really loved the turquoise stable doors so made the most of this location with some cuddle shots of them both in the stable doorway as well.

I'd never push my clients beyond doing something they didn't want to do, but we did get some lovely images of Jaya & Sam together with a bit of gentle encouragement.


I get it. I hate having my photo taken (oh the irony!), I know how awkward and uncomfortable it can feel. But once you have the images, then you have them. You don't need to purchase them if you don't' like them, but it means should the worst happen, then you know you've got these memories captured here to come back to.


So I always encourage my clients to be a little brave, even if it's just for 5 minutes. No one has ever regretted taking the leap and having portraits taken with their horse. And all of my client are so surprised at how much fun it is compared to what they may have initially thought.


We finished the shoot capturing some images of the dogs - Jaya really wanted one of the girls together but they weren't the best at sitting still, so we kept them on the lead and it was edited it out after... Magic!

What started as nerves quickly turned into a relaxed and enjoyable experience, and now Jaya has a set of images that truly capture her bond with Sam.


If you’re hesitant about being in the photos, you’re not alone—but don’t let that stop you. You don’t need to pose or perform; it’s just about being yourself with your horse. Everything I do is super relaxed and fun, no catwalking or pouting here!


In the end, you’ll have photos that you’ll be grateful for, not just now, but for years to come.
