Earlier this year in May, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Jemima for a very special reason — her 18th birthday! Jemima’s mum, Alison, secretly booked an equine portrait session as a surprise gift to celebrate this milestone birthday in the most meaningful way possible — surrounded by her beloved horses, her family, and their dogs.


We met at the beautiful yard where Jemima’s horses are stabled near Lichfield. We didn't let the few drizzly spells between shots dampen our morning, and we made the most of the beautiful soft morning light. We made the most of every corner of their yard — from the dark drop-off of the stable doorways that made Jemima’s gorgeous pink pullover pop, to the long summer grass in the paddock paired with casual jeans and shirt, finishing on the pretty walkway leading to the horses’ field wearing a cute little white dress and cowgirl boots.

The result? A wonderfully varied set of portraits full of life, love, and connection.

I loved all of Jemima's outfit choices, and we also made sure to include mum Alison, sister Lucy, and their two dogs, Milo the Collie and Bungle the Spaniel — truly capturing a family moment that will be treasured forever.


One of my favourite things about being an equine and dog photographer is witnessing the joy these portraits bring. An equine portrait session is so much more than just photos — it’s a chance to spend uninterrupted time with the people and animals you love most. For big birthdays like an 18th, there really is no better gift. It’s a day of laughter, cuddles, muddy boots and happy horses — and at the end, you’re left with beautiful, timeless artwork that keeps these memories alive for generations.


Jemima now has a stunning portrait of her with Jed and Bess to take with her when she heads off to university — so even when she’s away, she’ll always have her horses close by.
