A horse and its rider enjoy an outdoor photoshoot session near rustic wooden fencing on a sunny day.

There are horses you buy, and then there are horses you’ve waited for. For Christine, Liam is very much the latter. Her first horse, he arrived after a long wait — and now, with the children grown up, the timing finally feels right to spend a little more time doing something simply because she loves it.

Her portrait session with Liam was the perfect celebration of that.

Set at a beautiful Staffordshire yard, we had everything from a tree-lined driveway and pretty pond to a gorgeous stable yard, before making the rather energetic climb up a very steep hill for views across Staffordshire that were absolutely worth every step. It was one of those locations that seemed to offer another beautiful backdrop around every corner, and Liam was very happy to play the part of handsome leading man.

What I loved most about this session was that it wasn’t really about creating a collection of “nice photos of a horse”. It was about Christine having some time for herself, with the horse she had waited so long for, and creating something tangible to remember this chapter of her life.

There’s something quite special about reaching a point where life becomes a little less about everyone else and you can start making space for the things that make you happy.

Christine said: “What an experience! Imogen made me feel completely at ease and relaxed throughout the whole process. No pressure, not rushed, just great fun from start to finish. The photos taken are stunning and a true testament to how skilled Imogen is with the camera. I would highly recommend Imogen and booking a photo shoot with her - you will not be disappointed!!”

And honestly, this is exactly why I love creating luxury equine portrait photography. You don’t need a special occasion, a competition win or a milestone birthday to celebrate the relationship you have with your horse.

Sometimes the reason is simply that you’ve spent years putting everyone else first, and now you’d quite like to do something for yourself.

P.s... I had to dedicate a little section of this blog to the photobombing chickens, they followed us around the yard and gave us a good giggle!

If you have a horse who means the world to you and you’re ready to turn that relationship into beautiful, timeless artwork for your home, I’d love to create it with you.
