Back in June, I had the joy of being commissioned to create a very special portrait session with Indy, her beautiful horses, (Jenga, Rio, KK, Rio, Janet & Arnie) and her gorgeous dog, Jess. It was one of those warm, gentle summer days that make photographing horses an absolute dream — the kind where everything feels calm and unhurried.

Indy knew she wanted to include everyone in her portraits. With six horses in total — four at home and two just a short distance down the lane — plus Jess, her loyal companion, the session became a celebration of her whole equine family. And this is something I feel passionately about:

When you commission me for a portrait experience, there is no extra charge for including all of your animals.

If they’re part of your story, they deserve to be photographed. Simple as that.

Your equine family isn’t made up of just one horse. It’s a tapestry of different relationships: the first pony who taught you everything, the youngster you’ve recently brought on, the steady one you trust with your whole heart, and the dog who faithfully shadows you around the yard.

Indy understood this completely. Her collection of portraits tells the full story — not just one chapter. And being able to photograph all her animals, in the places that mean the most, created artwork filled with depth, memory, and meaning.

Once her gallery was complete, Indy chose something truly special for her finished artwork: a handcrafted heirloom album.

She mentioned how her parents always had albums in their home growing up — that feeling of being able to sit down, turn beautifully printed pages, and relive moments together. She wanted the same for her own family. Something timeless, tangible, and made to last.

Creating this album for her was such a joy. Page by page, it holds the full story of her equine journey — her horses, her dog, and the love woven through every image.

A piece she’ll treasure for decades, and one day pass down through her family.
