Back in September I had a lovely sunny shoot with Nickie and her gorgeous Welsh Section D mare, Raeya, Raeya is 19 years old now, and although Nickie thought she might be fidgety, she was actually a really good girl.

We decided to start the shoot nice and early - morning light always feels slightly more pastel than the golden hour light of the afternoon, and I was really happy with how these turned out.

We started heading down the canal path to get something a bit different to the yard. There was a wooded area a mile or so down the path so we started there and then worked our way back towards the yard.

There were some lovely benches to use along the way, and we managed to dodge most of the runners and cyclists for some lovely shots on the main path.

Once back at the yard we used the stable area, the driveaway, the gates and some other areas where the light was lovely on the yard.

We finished off going for something totally different in front of some shutter doors which definitely gave a totally different vibe as well.

Raeya was super well behaved throughout the whole shoot and I really enjoyed capturing a partnership that have spent some time together (and it shows). I'd also like to wish Nickie all the best on her new venture up to Norfolk with her partner (of course Raeya is going, too!). Nickie is an Equine & Dog physiotherapist (you can see her instagram here) so I'm wishing her and her business all the best with their move.
