This session felt especially meaningful because it marked such a special moment in Poppy’s story with her ponies.
Over the years I’ve had the privilege of photographing this family at different stages of their lives, and one of the things I love most about returning to the same clients is seeing how much changes between each session. The photographs become more than beautiful portraits — they quietly become part of a timeline, capturing moments that can never quite be recreated again.
This time felt particularly significant. It would be Poppy’s last portrait session with Eddie before he headed off to his new home, whilst also being one of her very first with Lady, her new pony. Having both ponies together made this session feel like such a lovely bridge between one chapter and the next.
There was something really special about documenting that transition — celebrating the partnership and memories built with Eddie, whilst capturing the excitement and beginning of a new adventure with Lady.
Surrounded by beautiful countryside and soft light, we created timeless portraits that I know will become even more meaningful with time. Sometimes it’s only later that we realise just how important certain photographs become, and I have a feeling these are some of those images.
If you’ve ever looked at your children with their ponies or horses and thought, “I wish I could keep this stage forever,” a portrait session is about preserving exactly that. The muddy boots, the changing seasons, the partnerships that shape childhood and the moments that quietly become memories far too quickly — transformed into beautiful artwork for your home and family to treasure for years to come.
