Kate, Martyn, Ruby & Boo

I had the absolute pleasure of spending a beautiful autumn morning with Kate, Martyn, Ruby, and Boo at Kate’s family home in Caverswall – the very place where she grew up. The setting was nothing short of magical: a stunning Georgian house with a charming courtyard and garden, where the autumn colours created a beautiful backdrop that felt straight out of a storybook.

Like many of my clients, Kate mentioned she wasn’t entirely comfortable in front of the camera. It’s something I hear often, but one of the most important things I always tell my clients is to push through that initial discomfort. All my clients say afterwards how it wasn't at all like they thought and they had a great time. Not only did they feel comfortable in front of my camera, but they just enjoyed spending time with their horses, dogs and family.

The truth is, these moments are fleeting, and having images of the people and animals we love becomes even more precious as time goes on. Horses like Ruby and dogs like Boo are family members too, and capturing the bond you share with them ensures that the memories you create together are never forgotten.

During our session, we enjoyed a mix of portraits: beautiful family shots together, individual moments highlighting Ruby as the star of the show, and playful fun around the house and garden with Boo. Boo had the best time chasing her ball in the garden at the end. It was really lovely to see this close family unit, it's clear how big a part Ruby & Boo are.

Being invited into Kate’s childhood home and trusted to capture her and Martyn was an absolute privilege.

With their kitchen newly redecorated and refreshed, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect – these portraits now provide a beautiful collection of memories to adorn their walls and bring warmth to their home for years to come.
